Hengstler, Dynapar and Northstar Encoders

Incremental and absolute encoders from The Timer & Counter Company include the full Hengstler, Dynapar & Northstar ranges. Rotation position is determined by the creation of pulses which are then counted hence the inclusion in our product portfolio.

Range Overview

Encoders are available in specific case diameters (30, 36, 40, 51, 58, 63.5mm), then a variety of options including resolution, shaft details, operating voltages, connections and in the case of absolute encoders, interfaces.

Incremental encoders measure angular position and direction and can be specified to include alarm features.

Absolute encoders have the added benefit of counting total movement ( i.e. multiple revolutions ). Absolute encoder operation is suited to advanced communication systems such as SSI, CAN, PROFIBUS etc.

The encoders described on these pages comprise the current range from Hengstler. We supply these to machine builders, resellers and end users. Generally an encoder is built to a customised specification that combines the particular variants and options available. The Timer & Counter Company also supplies older encoder products branded Hengstler, Dynapar, Northstar and Kuhnke, just give us an exact part number.

Although encoders are built within a standard number series, the number of options available means that we cannot show all the exact part numbers to order, or list every single variant. A typical detailed model number contains codes for model, resolution, voltage supply, flange, IP protection, shaft type and size, output connection, cable length and connector.
